Hi, Devi. Thanks for your kind reply to my message. By different materials, I meant that for example the FineReader engine does a great job with most novels and normal books. The Scansoft Accurate engine works really well on cookbooks and some newspapers. If a book isn't turning out well with one engine, I sometimes try one of the others to see if it will work better. Kurzweil also has an optimize scan feature that will scan a page a few different ways to find the settings that will work best for that book. I always optimize scans by using a page from the middle of a book so I can be sure I'm getting the best scan possible. With some time and patience, I think anyone can learn to scan well, especially with the feedback from our list.
