Hi All,

It's been great to see the interest and enthusiasm for reprocessing Fair
Books in the collection. We definitely appreciate the notes Monica and
others shared on the challenges volunteers face when trying to locate
and rescan some of these titles.

While our goal is to eventually replace all these books, as a starting
point, my thought was that it would be wonderful if we could filter G.
Cindy's list of Fair Books and collectively compile a list of, say to
begin with, 100 titles rated "Fair" in the collection, giving priority
to books that have high content value, are difficult to locate and/or
expensive. From our end Bookshare.org would be happy to place orders for
these books and take responsibility for reprocessing them. This could be
a great way of working towards the organization's own goal of providing
member's with more educational content on the website, while also
addressing the quality issue of certain books in the collection. I
alerted Lisa to some of the concerns shared on the list, and she
wholeheartedly supports the idea of Bookshare.org partnering with the
volunteer community in this way.

It would be great if you could send in the titles of Fair books in the
collection that are educational or contain high value content (for other
titles feel free to submit a Book Quality Issue report), that you would
like to have us purchase and reprocess. (eg. The Wall Street Journal
Guide to Understanding Money and Markets by Alan Siegel) You can send
your titles to the list, so everyone can see the requests, under the
subject: "Replacement Requests". I'll compile a list of the requests
for us to work on. Of course the speed with which the books are ordered
and processed will depend on current in-house workload and priorities,
but if this approach proves successful, it is something we could perhaps
do on an ongoing basis.

Either way, we're looking forward to working together to get those books
in the collection in top-notch quality!

Warm regards,
Pavi
