Well, you can get books on Amazon for a penney. The shipping is 3.99, so the price is not really a penney. It is four dollars. That is how I figure it. I don't worry about whether the shipping is too high. I just figure it together with the price of the book and then consider the sum the price of the book. After all, that is what you are paying. If the total price is too high then it is too high and it does not matter what proportion of that price is the shipping charge.
