Hi John, JAWS is actually reading this as dashes. The only reason I can think of to keep them is if they were used between sections on a page to preserve a blank line or white space. But that doesn't seem to be the case here. To remove them you could highlight the line of dashes and do a "search and replace," replacing the line of dashes with a space or line break, whichever seems appropriate. I also wonder if you added the word "page" before each page number in your email for our benefit. If they were already in the file I would remove the word. I don't think we're supposed to include words or extra punctuation by the page numbers. I'm glad that your screen reader was able to read all the dots. Since they are not meaningful in the context of the document, I suspect most 'readers' of the book might be put off by a frequent repetition of 'dot, dot, dot, dot,...'. Any idea about how to get rid of them? _____ From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Dornetta Sent: Monday, June 25, 2012 2:16 PM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Strange dotted lines in text Hello John, I am a JAWS user and it "read" fine. Where the dotted lines are, JAWS just read or said dot dot dot dot dot dot dot dot and so on. HTH Netta "Just because you are blind does not mean you lack vision"-Stevie Wonder
