Long Synopsis:
Joseph Marshall III was born on the Rosebud (Sicangu Lakota) Indian Reservation in what is now south-central South Dakota. Raised by his maternal grandparents, his first language is Lakota. A free-lance writer, Marshall has published numerous articles and two previous books with Red Crane. He has been a technical advisor and actor in television movies, including "Return to Lonesome Dove. " The Dance House is a combination of essays and short stories based on incidents or events which took place on the Rosebud Sioux Indian Reservation in South Dakota. The essays discuss mystic experiences. Native American cultures, Indian ranchers, and the hard scrabble life on the high plains. Joseph Marshall tells personal stories of the often frustrating, adversarial and sometimes laughable relationship between Indian tribes and the federal government. The short stories, some semiautobiographical in nature, are intertwined
with Lakota oral traditions.
Comments:
On page vi, in the Library of Congress Cataloging-in-Publication Data, the contents is listed, which is not the Table of Contents page, so it should be left the way it is there. officialbusiness is one word. It's probably the way Oliver heard it. I placed a series of three asterisks between the mane text and the beginning of two letters and again at the end of both letters to mark the end of each letter in the first story: "Oliver's Silver Dollar". I have read the book through. All page numbers are present, chapter and any other headings are protected by blank lines, leaving any sizing to you, I've stripped the headers. There are several Lakota words throughout the book. It should be easy to proof, since nothing is garbled. I hope you enjoy the book as much as I did.
