I hate when messages are lost to cyber-space, but even more when I forget to
follow up. It was really long ago, maybe 5 years ago that I bought Rusty, A
Cocker Spaniel and let you know I was scanning it when you put out your first
request. For whatever reason, you asked me to email you before putting it up,
so that was what I did, but like I said, it was after Nichole’s spinal fusion
when she was so ill. I know I always have people email me first, too, since
sometimes I have a full queue or just a full plate, so I certainly understood
the request. I was not able to get the second of the last two until after you
and Sandi got it, but I saw it was in the collection when it arrived on
inter-library loan. Some books have taken up to a year to procure depending on
where in the country they are, but that one was really tough. LOL Most were
in non-lending university libraries.
I love seeing complete author works or antiquarian series preserved; one of the
great joys of Bookshare. We are plugging away at old girl’s mystery series and
like S. P. Meeks, know Bookshare will be the only library in the country to
have some of these.
On an ancillary note, does anyone know if Lynne Iverson is still volunteering?
I had scanned a historical book for her, lost the scan, found it, and have
misplaced it again (it is on an elusive thumb drive as it was scanned many
Windows computers ago), but if she is, I would love to put it up next time I
find it or if I don’t, I still have the book that can be scanned by someone
else. I did it LONG before my projects pile went wildly out of control. LOL

I'm so glad you like them too--I totally agree, they are really good books!
In an interview I read, the author described how he spent anywhere from a
year to eighteen months researching the details for each book, to make sure
they were accurate. He based each book on compilations of experiences that he
discovered really happened, so the animal star in each book is sort of a
amalgam of things that really happened.
Two of the books, "Frog: The Horse that Knew No Master" and "Jerry: The
Adventures of an Army Dog," are the actual adventures, fictionalized, of a
real U.S. Army Cavalry charger and a dog a US Army unit adopted who was
officially awarded the rank of sergeant for his actions in assisting soldiers
on duty.
