Thank you Carrie for addressing this issue.

I wasn't going to speak to this point, but with the numerous postings on the
subject, I changed my mind. *smile*

When someone puts a "hold for Lynn I" on a book, it means they've asked me
if I'd like to proofread it, and I've agreed to do so. It means I'm in
contact with the person who is submitting the book. If I'm working on other
books, at the time, I simply ask the submitter to wait until I'm ready to
work on the book before they submit it. That works well for me.

If, on the other hand, the submitter decides they want the book in the
collection before I can proofread it, they can simply submit it without the
"hold for Lynn I", and the book is then available for someone else to
proofread.

I apply the same scenario if I submit a book--meaning I don't submit it with
a "hold for" on it until the proofreader let's me know they're ready to
proofread it.

The two week time limit is only a problem until the check out list is
thinned out, and some of the books with "holds" are processed. I'm glad this
situation has been addressed. Not only will it help to keep books from
languishing on the check out list because of "holds", but it promotes better
coordination between a submitter and proofreader.

As a submitter, if I want a specific person to proofread the book, I just
won't submit it until they're ready. Conversely, if a submitter wants me to
proofread a book, they'll have to be willing to wait to submit it until I am
ready to take it. *smile*

I don't see how we can have it both ways. We asked for something to be done,
and Carrie and the Bookshare Collection Development department did as we
asked.

Blessings.
