I wish this worked, I have been trying to do this off an on all day and nothing seems to be working. I hate to give up because this is a good scan, but doing a rank spelling leaves me with lots of weird endings and prefixes so it is almost useless. I am not finding the typical scanning errors, so far no missing pages, just this annoying problem that keeps telling me there are zero corrections when I can see or rather hear it. I am not willing to do this manually one by one on a 900 page document. This seems to be the only problem, and maybe it is me, but rank spelling doesn't seem to be all that useful, then again, I have seldom used it. The quickest way to fix this is to do a find and replace, control H. Go to one of these hyphens followed by a new line, select both characters by pressing Shift right arrow twice, copy to clipboard (Control C), press Control H, and then press control v to paste the selected characters into the Find field. I can't remember the shorcut key for Replace all, but you can either tab or shift-tab to it and press Enter. The same works for hyphens followed by tab characters. FYI, to search for a tab, type backslash t in the find field; to search for a hyphen followed by a new line, type hyphen, backslash, n. Hope this helps! Now it's naptime! <Smile> Jana ----- Original Message ----- From: "Rose Combs" <rosecombs@xxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, July 03, 2005 11:40 AM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Validating > OK, I am now in K1000, what I am finding are some hyphens with a new > line character after them, I don't wish to remove all new lines, just > those with a hyphen before them and I am drawing a blank. > > The thing is, I did apply corrections, tried to do a rank spelling and > have word-endings and all sorts of stuff I want to fix, I am getting 95% > or so correct words but 6000 not recognized and from looking, the > problem is related to this hyphen thing, but I don't want to take all > hyphens out either since some are really supposed to be there. > > Am I making this too hard? > > Did I wake up on another planet? > > I swear, if I can fix this one problem about 98% of the corrections will > be made. > > > Rose Combs > rosecombs@xxxxxxxxx > > -----Original Message----- > From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Gisela Vazquez > Sent: Sunday, July 03, 2005 8:41 AM > To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Validating > > > Hi Rose, > > sounds like an interesting day..
