Mike, a meticulous job isn't so hard if one enjoys
reading the book and has some patience. All you do is
read for your enjoyment and as you notice mis-spelled
words or lines out of place, you find them and fix
thema nd go on reading. SOme things can be corrected
by spell check or f"ind and replace all, but that has
to be done carefully. On one book I did that and
forgot that what I was replacing was correct in other
contexts, and I had to go back and "find" every
instance and either put it back the way it should be.
The example given in the recent post (I forgot by
whom) about replaing "corn" with "com" is an exampe --
be darn sure that "corn" isn't used elsewhere, like
eating corn on the cob or talking about acorns
unicorns.

There are, though, I gather, books on the download
list that really are in excellent condition, and if
you pick one of those that you'd like to read anyway,
it's yours without counting against your membership --
in fact, you get credit for it -- and there wouldn't
be much work to do. If you find after downloading a
book that it bores you or that there's too much
correcting to do and you don't want to bother, you can
release it or let the time lapse and it will be
released automatically.

Don't be intimidated; it's really a lot of fun.
