Hi, Devi. Those messages only matter if you're printing the file. For
Bookshare's purposes, what matters is that the page breaks are in the right
place, so if you do it this way, they will be. Just ignore the messages and
tell Word that you don't want to fix them. You want to leave them the way
you entered them. It'll be fine. Take care.

Pratik
Thanks for your help. Still I am not ok. I changed the paper size to
custom and set width =14" and height =20".Now the word gives me a message
that left and right margins, column spacings, paragraph indents are too
large for the page width in some sections. I tried to change the margin
settings but i keep getting messages like the first column will be narrow
etc. Can you pl. help me?thanks for your time. devi

      Devi,

Go into word's page setup option File/Page setup. Go to paper and choose
custom. Choose a rediculously large amount as the paper length--20" should
do it. You'll be able to fit in multiple columns. you can also increase
the paper width. I'm not certain what Microsoft Word's maximum number is.

Feel freeto remove picture place holders and odd symbols that result from
that process.

Hope this helps. Let us know if you have more questions.

  regards,

  Pratik

Sharon thanks for your reply. In word if you pull down the format menu and
pick columns and apply to the document it should work. But in this case it
is going to be hard .When two columns is made one the number of pages can
be doubled. Also there are big blank spaces and when I try to use the above
method, I assume it may become messy.Any suggestions guys?

It's better not to have columns in scanned books. It's better for us
to read one column, and have the next column below the first.

  Hi All
I have D/L this book . For vegeatarians it is a great book. Many of the
spices listed are the ones that I use. Some of the receipes that I see, I
have been doing them.
Coming to formating this book I have some questions.Definitely I need all
your help. The formating is little bit different.

I see the print matter in columns (2 or 3) in most pages. Can I keep the
same format?I am doing for the first time such a format.
I also see big blank spaces in some pages. I assume these spaces
correspond to pictures in the print book. I find it hard to get rid of these
spaces. Is it okay if I keep the spaces?
Also I see big vertical lines in many pages. I assume these lines may
correspond to the borders for the pictures.I can get rid of them by just
placing the mouse on them and the cursor becomes a 4 pointed arrow. Then I
hit delete key. But there are very small vertical lines that do not get
deleted. Can I do any global replace. If so what are the key words used?
I have not seen braille books that use columns. Are braille books
available in columns? This is only for my information.
Many Many thanks for your time and patience. devi
