Hi Cindy, I can see this, but I'm a bit curious--what do you mean about pressing the keys hard enough?

You work on a Mac, right? Maybe Valerie has some ideas or can help you look at the settings in your Mac email client that may have gotten a little off kilter that are causing the problem. It can happen, for example, if your encoding for what the text of the email is sent in gets set to the wrong default.

A thought occurred to me as wrote this. At first I didn't see what I was
writing; apparently I didn't press the keys hard enough. I'll wait before
hitting Send to be sure I can see what I wrote. Were you all able to see this
message?
Cindy

Yes. At least that's the way I do it and, so far, no one from
BookShare has said to do otherwise.

   Hi Cindy,

I don't think you need the second asterisk in your example. When I
  format
footnotes within the body of text I just use a space before the
asterisk and then the footnote number. If this is within a paragraph
I then put a space and continue with the text.

   Example:
Sentence containing words. *1 Another sentence containing more words.

In the notes I saved I have that we're supposed to put
space, asterisk, footnotenumber, another space and another asterisk.
  Should there then be
  a
space after the second asterisk before the rest of the sentence, or
should the rest of the sentence come immediately after the second
asterisk.
  It's
been a while since I've proofed a book with footnotes. (I misss
not
  putting
the footnote number in superscript; it looks so much prettier, smile
  (though
I know that doesn't help the blind members.
