Well, one reason is that the previous volumes are already on tape or in Braille and people - such as myself, and perhaps others - don't want to wait the year or more it can take for NLS to get the next volume out. I have done this myself with the Crown of Stars series. It is true that those who cannot read books on tape or Braille would not have access to the previous volumes in the series, so this can be troublesome for them, but for those who can, they get their next installments much quicker than they would if they had to wait for them to come out on talking book or or Web Braille.

There may be other reasons, of course, such as someone just happening to have a middle volume around and throwing it on the scanner - someone who doesn't care if he/she is starting in the middle of a series, or who may not even care about reading the book at all.

Ok, I don't understand this. This is not a criticism, just a matter of curiosity. But why do people submit books in the middle of a series if bookshare doesn't have the books previous to that one in the series? Let's take sword of truth for instance. As far as I know, we have all ten books on there. But let's say we didn't. MOst likely somebody would submit book 6 first, lol. WHat kind of thinking goes into that decision?

I have just submitted Nip, Tuck, Dead which is book 5
in the Pauline Sokol mystery series.

I know Bookshare does not have the first four books so
I will try to see about getting those as well.

They are really good mystery books, similar to the
Stephanie Plum books by Janet Evanovich. If you like
Ranger, you'll like Jagger.

Ex-nurse-turned-insurance fraud investigator Pauline
Sokol's willing to risk anything to put a bad doc out
of business even her best friend Goldie's near perfect
proboscis! Her cross-dressing compadre has agreed to
get his shnozz bobbed so Pauline can pose as his
private nurse and gain entry into Highcliff Manor-a
posh plastic surgery "spa" making an illegal killing
with their repeat clientele.
But when a super-rich "frequent flier" is unexpectedly
widowed-and a receptionist who knows too much is given
the boot . . . off a nearby cliff!- Pauline realizes
she's stuck her own nose into something really nasty.
Despite the pleasant distraction of the hunky Dr.
Neal-and the unexpected appearance of her sexy cohort,
Jagger-Pauline can't shake the feeling she's being
closely watched. And if she's not careful, she'll be
the next one who goes under the knife!
