Hi, Jamie, I sympathize with you. I wanted to read The Pickwick Papers
after hearing it being rhapsodized over in Little Women. So when I got
the talking book I thought "Now I'll see what's so great about this
book." Well, I have to tell you it is a great mishmash of a book and
what you see is what you get. I did finish it but I didn't care for it
much. Now Our Mutual Friend, Dombey and Son, and Nicholas Nickleby did
it for me and I think it was due to the narrator. I also read The Old
Curiosity Shop and didn't care for it much. Too sentimental about Little
Nell. Regards, Kim Friedman.

I didn't think they were your cup of tea, but I thought I'd ask, smile

I'm getting tired of reading (listening to) the Pickwick Papers. I can't
tell if this is a collection of short stories or if this book is
eventually going to go somewhere. It's audio so I don't get the visual
layout like it would be if it were short stories and I don't get the
dust jackets to even know. And it's 25 discs. So far I'm 8 discs in and
I just can't tell if there is a plot line or not. I don't know why I've
always wanted to read this book.
