Hi, Geneva. I'm not sure if you have time to read the volunteer email list so, I'm sending this sample of recent posts. --- On Sun, 3/28/10, Debby Franson <the.bee@xxxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > From: Debby Franson <the.bee@xxxxxxxxxxx> > Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: URL for outsourcers list (was Re: Re: Purchased > to scan or proof) > To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Date: Sunday, March 28, 2010, 4:18 PM > Hi Judy and everyone! > > I'm sighing too. Sigh. > > > > Judy s. > Years ago there was one list, on the volunteer home page, titled Books in Process. It was divided into sections: (1. books waiting to be proofed; (20 Books out being proofed; (3) books awaiting approval; and (4) rejected books. I have been thinking of creating such a list for the benefit of the volunteers (any myself, because when someone has submits a scanned book I check to see if it is available for proofing, and there are sometimes as many as 4 page to check; also, I try to remember to check the collection and the lists when someone requests a book so that no scanner's time is wasted scanning something that has already been done. However, compiling such a will take some time, and maintaining the lists I am already maintaining takes time, and I would like to get back to proofing. I wondered if someone at bookshare--perhaps one of your volunteers or an intern could compile such a list rather than, at the moment, checking the duplicate being-scanned list I send you ; speaking of which, since you said your volunteer was going to check the collection to be sure books on the being-scanned list are not already in the collection I've only been putting added books on the list I send you, and not deleting ones that people have told me are in the collection or that I have seen myself on the New books list). Please let me know if what I suggest. If not, after proofing a book or two, I'll create such a list, but of course I wouldn't be able to post it on the volunteer home page. (Maybe Rick Costa would be willing to do it?
