You got it, E. The Braille-Lite does not read RTF files. So far, though,
the power is still on so I can validate.

A generator sounds like what I need. Evverything in my house is electric
except the furnace and hot water heater. They are gas, but the furnace has
an electric blower to push the heat through the registers.

What we are having sounds like what you are having. Ice, freezing rain,
etc.

Sue is the reason you cannot use the braille light is it does not read rtf?

As for the ice, we have lots this morning. Now it is raining which
means it will freeze later and become yet more ice.

My furnace and well pump go out when the power goes down. I am going
to buy a generator and have it installed. I am getting the kind which
runs off propane. I have a propane tank to run the gas stove now.
This kind of generator means no messing with gasoline or anything.
When the power goes down, the generator just kicks in. I do not have
to do anything. It is something of a home investment but well worth
it. Several of my friends have them.

I have a small enough house so wheat I need to run (no lights grin)
is easy enough to hook up. Costs a few thousand dollars but lowers stress.
