I am not familiar with screen readers or programs other than Kurzweil but I did notice and have taken advantage of Kurzweil's ability to have the reader ignore the headings or not as I chose. There are times I like the reminder, especially when I am reading stories or chapters of different lengths. It also helps when I am switching from one book to another or a book and other files. When I read I often get totally involved with a story or even a well written piece of non-fiction that while I remember the topic I may forget the point of view and the headings may remind me of that. It does make a difference who the writer is and just that heading will remind me of the writer's point of view as one being somewhat suspect or one I have found reliable. One can almost insure that the heading will be kept if the page number is on the same line so I don't worry about the stripper or the validater doing so. I hope the validater will respect that I have reasons for including [or not] something and leave what I have included. Just as I hope that in some cases where there is a lot of what seem to be misspellings that they will assume that I did not correct them because they were what the author wrote. When I check the spelling on a scan I do so with the text nearby. I like to scan and validate books by authors whose works I have read before so I know if he has spelling or sentence structure issues such as writing one compound word where technically there should be 2 words. When I can write as well as they do I will consider correcting them but not likely. It is my understanding that what we are validating is that the Bookshare edition is a correct copy of the printed edition. Amy omsm
