I think I have just met the one book that just refuses to scan with Kurzweil.
Fortunately for me, I have openbook, and while it takes forever to scan a page
with the opticbook using this software, I'm soon going to Portland where I have
a cannon lide 90 which works very well with it. Just thought I'd vent a bit on
how frustrating this book is, and ask your advice should I ever run into this
problem again.
The name of the book in question is Old Sins by Penny Vincenzi. It is an almost
thousand page paperback.
So far I've run optimization on it three times with different results. One
time it thought I was recognizing two pages at a time when I was only doing
one, so I got gray scale with brightness set to fifty, paper quality set to
draft quality dot matrix and recognition set to finereader. Then, when I tried
it again I got static with brightness set to seventy and omnipage. Now, however
every other page has words cut off, and I just found this out one hundred and
fifty pages into it. If I were to attempt to scan this with Kurzweil, what
would you recommend to fix this pesky problem?
The thoroughly disgruntled and fed up. Julia
