Jamie, It's a matter of personal preference and how committed one is to have
the best possible quality books in the catalog. In the beginning, the
validating requirements were so minimal and scanning was often so poor that
a lot of books rated fair ended up in the catalog. Now, however, most
people's scans have improved markedly and the features some scanning
programs offer make it so much easier to validate that it probably isn't
necessary to read the entire book.
