The most simple thing to be sure and check is that if your OCR package has a
setting for keeping or ignoring original line endings, you have it set for
ignore. Also, I've found it best in most books to have column recognition
turned on and partial columns turned off. This prevents a lot of instances
of tab, junk char, linebreak.  Also, the new "suspicious regions" feature
can often get rid of these kinds of strings and the globs of junk characters
that often occur at bindings or at the edges of the pages.
