First, you need to read the manual, and after that, if you have questions about how something should be done, write and ask. Anyone on the list will be glad to help--but we don't all agree all the time. If that happens, you can always do whichever thing suggested appeals to you.


Are you proof reading in Braille, by sight, or with a screen reader? If it is with a screen reader, turn your punctuation on so that if any junk characters should be there, like carats, asterisks, and such, you will know it.
