Thanks for responding.  When I put the "reveal codes" on, I see no extra spaces 
between the letters.  It just is automatically stretching the text.  When this 
book is uploaded, will that software see extra spaces?

If I understand you correctly I think you are saying that there are extra 
spaces between the words at the beginning of the sentence. If that is the case 
then don't worry about it. The Bookshare tools automatically remove those extra 
spaces when you upload it.

I'm a fairly new volunteer doing proofing. I am wondering if anybody has come 
across Word 2007 doing a "space-out text" as follows:
"If we feed it other stuff, maybe it'll be less
hungry for you," Damon said.
Where it is all in the same font and size, but the beginning of the sentence is 
spaced out farther than the rest of the sentence. Is this O.K.? Or what can be 
done about it?
