I have to continue using the Office 2003 book until the end of the class (which I hate because it's so dull, mostly because I already know how to use Word and mostly know how to use Excel but it's a community college and they require all degree program students to take this class--period). But I do not mind trying to scan it bit by bit. I don't have expensive scanning software but there is one that is free called Simple OCR and there is one that comes with Microsoft Office 2003 - at least with the professional edition. And it has two nice laminated fold out cards that give all sorts of shortcuts. I like the book; I just don't like the class because it's really geared for people who have never touched a computer before and there are a lot of people in my class who are not very proficient but the book is excellent. It does step by step instructions for doing things. I don't know if introductions are the norm on this list or not, and I never did exactly introduce myself. I just kind of jumped in. But I live in central Michigan. I'm mom and wife, not quite full time student right now. I have two full years in at a private liberal arts college (Alma College). I took last year off from school to have a third surgery on my arm and this year I'm just going to community college part time (8 credits as opposed to the 18 per semester I took at Alma). And I work part time. And in my spare time I like to read (ok I LOVE to read), machine knit (no expensive machine - just a couple of inexpensive machines you still manipulate with your hands), and I like to make hats to donate to charity in the winter time. And sometimes I make doll clothes which I sell on ebay. I always have more interests than I have time. :) Jamie in Michigan To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
