I only use triple asterisks in cases of multiple empty lines or scene break symbols within the chapter, not for spaces around a chapter title. A page that starts with title I handle like this: [page break] Blank line Page number (12 pt, regular) Blank line Title (16 pt, bold) Blank line Body of text (12 pt, regular) I know we have been told the blank lines are not necessary and this is the only place I use them, but I do it because I had a book that was mis-handled probably a year ago and it is easier to do it knowing they will be protected. Additionally, if the title is on two line like this: Chapter One Seven Strange Clues I change it to : Chapter One: Seven Strange Clues I do this since the tool automatically puts them together, but once in a while it runs them together, so I prevent that from happening by prepping it in a way the tool cannot mess it up. Hope that helps!
