Mike, My understanding is that if the submitter does not put in a rating, there is something that rates the quality based on some dictionary or other; it also evaluates whether the book should be Adult or not. But then the validator can and should change the rating, both of general quality and adult, after he/she validates it. I think it's been said here that if the submitter doesn't rate the quality, the automatic rating is Fair, which belies what I said here in the first place, doesn't it. Hmmm.
