Let me give you an example.
"The Shadows of Power by James W. Huston
Beginning with a dog fight between Lieutenant Ed Stovic, an
F/A-18 pilot,
and an
Algerian Mig pilot, which Stovic shoots down, this book
presents the
Algerian
pilot's brother's oath of revenge, resulting in a
terrorist plot against the
United States. A great suspense-filled book of
espionage."
That last sentence can't be a review of the book,
because I haven't read it.
The word great is mainly put in to keep from belittling the
book. Actually,
if I were to give an opinion, I'd probably say
"lousy" instead of "great",
as I don't usually read this kind of book. But the
sentence was thrown in to
let the reader know the book was suspenseful, a book of
espionage, and the
word "good" was thrown in to entice them to read
the book.
Personally, I see nothing wrong with that synopsis.
