I haven't found any that always work. These have gone into my corrections file. I do my best on the optimize and have my own corrections file autocorrecting. I do not use what comes canned with K1000 because though great in the past, the newer engines have different problems and require fewer and different fixes. Just my $.02.

Sometimes it is find reader in kurzweil that does this too. Especially die for the, if anyone figure a way around this, can they tell me? I have tried everything brightness from 50 to 65 or even 70 with the same results but with scan soft it comes out better. Any thoughts? ----- Original Message ----- From: "Lynn I" <lynnskyi@xxxxxxxxxxxxx>To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Wednesday, August 12, 2009 4:11 PMSubject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: scanos brightness settings and rejecting a bookHi Elizabeth! Thanks for your thoughts and encouragement--you've made me feel better. Ithink you hit the nail on the head that it's a "brightness setting" issue.Believe me, I know that my scans are not perfect, but I do look at each pagebefore I submit a book and, for sure, I do a spell check. that's why thissituation upsets me. Because I scan and submit, both, I'm not asking anyoneto do anything I don't do myself. To all you new volunteers: Don't be intimidated by my earlier post. We all have to learn and begin somewhere, but I happen to know that this book wasnot submitted by a new volunteer. Blessings. There is a first time for any validator to reject a book. Anybody who has this many scanos in a book given the good software which is out these days ought to at least get a note saying the book was full of scanos and to check their brightness settings in future. Sometimes such a note is not enough. I had to reject several submits by the same submitter before she realized I was serious about her submitting books where brightness setting is correct and scanos thus reduced. Remember there is a first time for everything so if you have to reject just be brave and explain what you are doing in case the submitter is interested.
