My library website doesn't let me browse books and then when I try to place a hold tell me sorry try later. It tells me UP FRONT that they are down. Bookshare could do the same. It's not unreasonable to be given this courtesy instead of letting me go through the entire thirty minute process of submitting a book only to be told sorry we're having difficulties, try later.
