One can usually tell by using speech, and, I assume it's a little easier by using Braille. Initially the sentences will sound fractured and then careful looking (ok, listening) will show that there is a mark of some kind with no following space.

It's one of those things that experience is the only way to deal with the problem. But, all newby validators are future experienced validators, and the way we learn is by encountering problems and frustrations.

Sorry, I don't know how to describe it better.

I apologize in advance if someone else has answered this, because I haven't yet finished going through my mail.

That is probably something the validator has missed. When I validate, even though I read every word, I often miss those; the only way I find them is by doing a final spell-check when I've finished va;lidating. That catches them. I don't remember who validated The Apostate's Tale (shows how bad my memory is since I just sent some missing pages, grin) and therefore I don't know if she's sighted or not; if not, I don't know how one notices that there is no space after the close quote.

I notice that the brf copy of The Apostate's tale has a
lot of places
when the close quote runs into the next word.

Here is a made up example.
"I will follow you,"he said.

Is that an example of smart quotes or just something the
validator missed?

E.
