Hi, Tracy, I take your point, but I have talked to some submitters who have
experienced the depredations of "jiffy proofreaders". Now maybe you are
meticulous and you read every word of a book you proofread and you're very
careful because you might write the submitter informing what you've done and
asking questions if you're stuck. I don't know how long you've been a
proofreader, but if you are meticulous, I don't see why you should be
offended. I'm thinking this is not and neither should this be an adversarial
relationship between submitters and proofreaders. We want scans with
readable texts which aren't garbled. I think what we want is the same thing,
i.e., excellent quality books in the Bookshare collection. Regards, Kim
Friedman.

I take offense at this notion that only certain select people are "reliable"
proofers. I never get "hold fors", which is fine by me. It doesn't mean
I'm just some careless jiffy-proofer. I understand submitters don't want
the careless proofers, but I think there are a lot more reliable folks out
there than some people seem to think. It just smells to me like in-crowd
foolishness.
