Hi folks,
I've seen a couple of messages now from folks who are having second thoughts
about submitting when the step 1 download page is jammed with submissions. I
applaud you, Tracy, for overcoming your hesitations
about submitting. I fail to see the sense in ceasing submissions because a
bunch of stuff is already up there to be validated. Some submitters don't
validate. Or perhaps they're not interested in the books that are up
there, or are the type, like me, who get frustrated with the amount of work
that it can take to put some of these things into reasonable shape, but feel
guilty about zapping them, because somebody else might come
along and spend the time necessary to fix these titles up. Personally, I'm
going to keep on submitting things. If they hang around for a while, I will
also validate my own submissions, which I will have worked on a good
bit before submitting, so that the validation process will be what its suppose
to be, a quick check to make sure that there aren't any typing errors
introduced into the author/copyright etc, that the book didn't get
corrupted in the upload/download process etc. I really don't thikn its a good
idea to have the book submission process come to a hault or nearly so, because
there are a bunch of books awaiting acceptance or
rejection. My hat is off to those validators who have the temprament that it
takes to carefully proof-read a multi-hundred page book, stripping junk,
correcting ocr errors etc. I'm not one of you, though, so I will be
continuing to submit things that don't require that amount of work to validate
and looking for others' submissions which are likewise in need of less time
and effort to make them ready for publication on ths system.
Mary
