Hi Ann,

If you want to make mp3 files using Kurzweil of PQ books, divide them by
using the bookmarks as divisions. Generally these are chapter headings.
Just select that option in the mp3 creation dialogue in Kurzweil, and use
bookmarks at level 4 or higher in order to catch all of the bookmarks. Just
in case you want to have shorter mp3 files.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] why PQ books often don't have page breaks (was Re:
a discovery)

Hey Ann,

Many (maybe even most) of the PQ books that are submitted to the collection
are from ebook versions made by the publishers that are sold for vaious
ebook readers. The original publisher ebook versions do not have page breaks
so the PQ versions aren't going to either. Page breaks don't necessarily
make sense on an ebook to a sighted reader--they are an artifact of a
printed book which a sighted reader navigates very differently than they can
navigate an electronic file of a book.
So ebooks aren't mirror images of printed books, and aren't going to have
the same characteristics as printed books.

To sum up: If a publisher hasn't put page breaks in an ebook produced for
sighted readers, you aren't going to find them in the PQ books coming from
publishers direct to Bookshare. smile.
