Hi Siobhan,
Unfortunately, bad scans come in all formats. This sounds like something that
will have to be rejected, or if not will take a lot of work. If there are too
many indecipherable passages, don't hesitate to reject the book. If there are
only a few, you can ask here and maybe someone can get the book and tell you
what the glitches say. <grin>
