I have never used the Peapod app although I've heard that it has fabulous accessibility.

I haven’t though that’s mostly because I get a lot of my groceries delivered through the peapod app. But I remember the days when I would go to the supermarket and they would get a store employee to walk around with me. I recall one such excursion in particular when I ask the person to get tomato sauce and when I got home I had a jar of spaghetti sauce in the bag rather the can of tomato sauce I really wanted.

This is really awesome. I won't be surprised if other supermarket chains and various other stores participate in this program. Have any of you used Aira to assist you with shopping?

App helps the blind, visually impaired shop at Wegmans

Rochester, N.Y. (13WHAM) - Shoppers who are blind and visually
impaired can now have a clearer shopping experience the next time
    they go to Wegmans.

The company is working with Aira <https://aira.io/> to connect
shoppers with poor vision, to agents who can guide them through
    Wegmans' stores.

Shoppers like Justin Young, who can only see outlines and shadows
due to a condition, says he usually shops alone. But with the help
of the Aira app, that could change.

"It’s a new experience but one that is very helpful," said Young.
"With this technology, any blind person shouldn’t be afraid to
    shop alone."

Using a smartphone, customers can use the app to call an agent,
who then uses the customer's smartphone camera lens to guide them
    through the store.

When Young tested the app Wednesday, he was connected to a 'Carla'
in Arizona. Carla was able to speak to Young over the phone, and
help walk him through the store.

During the call, Carla pointed out not only potential obstacles,
but where certain groceries were, and described their labels.

Young says the app provides help his cane cannot.

"A cane does not tell you what’s waist or shoulder height - it
tells you something’s there but not what’s on it," he said.

Young still navigated the store with the help of his cane. He
advises others who use canes or dogs to still utilize those tools
while using the Aira, saying it's a good compliment to what he
already uses to help get around.

Wegmans say customers at all of its stores can get the help for free.
