“Voice remote” brings voice commands to YouTube TV, but only on mobile devices
• “Voice remote” has started to roll out to some YouTube TV users.
• This allows users to control the app using voice commands.
• The commands appear to work only on mobile devices for now.

Google has begun to roll out “voice remote” to YouTube TV users, according to Android Police. The feature will be added without a specific app update, but it is not currently available to all users.
The “voice remote” functionality will allow you to control YouTube TV through voice commands. A popup explaining how the app works will appear if you are one of the chosen few to receive it currently.
To use the feature, you simply have to select the floating microphone icon when you see it in the YouTube app and say a command.

Google has handily provided a list of such commands you can use on its website, including video playback commands like “fast forward,” “pause,” and “turn up the volume by <X> percent;” instructions to show certain shows or videos like “play <TV show>” or “watch <movie>;” and even the ability to turn on notifications for tv shows, teams, and specific sports teams by saying “turn on notification for <TV show>.”
At the moment, the “voice remote” feature appears to only be available on mobile devices, not on other devices that support the YouTube TV app such as Android TV. We’ll keep an eye out for it landing on more devices.
