The following piece from Phillyvoice.com should be of interest to
Comcast Internet subscribers who have one of their high-speed packages.
Btw, I need to say that I'm not just posting this to this list because
I'm trying to shamelessly promote Comcast because I happen to work
there. The honest truth is that if I hear of interesting news about
competing providers I would be happy to post them to this list as well.
Having said that ...
Comcast boosts internet speeds for many customers
PhillyVoice Staff
Many Philly-area Comcast customers will see a significant increase in
their internet speeds, the company said Wednesday.
Speed will increase by 33 percent for customers in its Northeast
Division for two of the provider's most popular tiers – Blast! and
Performance Pro – for no additional charge, according to a statement
Most Blast! customers will see download speeds rise from 150 Mbps to 200
Mbps, and Performance Pro customers will see an increase from 75 Mbps to
100 Mbps. The company said most Xfinity bundle subscribers with these
tiers will automatically get the upgrade.
Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware are in Comcast's Northeast Division
The speed upgrade rolled out Tuesday. Customers will need to restart
their modems to see the higher speeds.
Some customers may need to upgrade their modems. Those who lease modems
can get upgraded models at no additional charge.
On November 1, the Philadelphia-based Comcast will begin to implement a
1-terabyte data cap on residential broadband customers in nearly a dozen
new states. Subscribers who go over that monthly limit will be charged a
fee.
The data cap, however, is not being implemented for customers in its
Northeast Division at this time.
