*Basic Purpose: *

The Coordinator for Students with Disabilities is responsible for coordinating support services and accommodations to ensure equal access to the educational programs, testing services and activities. This position has College-wide responsibilities and requires travel between all campuses and off-site locations.

*ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: *

 * Works under the supervision of the Director of Disability Services
   at Central Campus to ensure uniform delivery of services, especially
   student eligibility for reasonable accommodations.
 * Conduct initial assessment to determine student needs and to explain
   eligibility requirements for services and accommodations.
 * Review documentation and determine accommodations in consultation
   with the Director of Disability Services.
 * Ensure that appropriate support services, equipment, and assistive
   technology are available to eligible students.
 * Communicate with psychologists, medical doctors, and school
   officials regarding documentation requirements and recommendations
   for accommodations.
 * Prepare accommodation letters for all instructors of students with
   disabilities as appropriate.
 * Maintain accurate student files and Access database to document
   usage of services and accommodations.
 * Consult with faculty regarding disability issues and students who
   are in need of support and accommodations.
 * Work closely with facilities staff to ensure classroom furniture is
   accessible to students with physical disabilities.
 * Hire and complete contracts for note takers, readers, and scribes.
 * Maintain and disseminate a current and accurate list of course
   schedules for students with mobility impairments for emergency
   evacuation purposes.
 * Arrange accommodations for all testing services provided by the
   College, as appropriate.
 * Other duties as assigned by Director of Disability Services

*MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS **: *

 * Master’s degree in Special Education, Education, Social Work,
   Rehabilitation Counseling, Educational Psychology or related field
   required.
 * Two years recent experience providing support services or educating
   individuals with disabilities of college or transition age.

*PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS **: *

 * Familiarity with Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) and Section
   504 of the Rehabilitation Act
 * Professional experience reviewing psychoeducational documentation
 * Ability to interact effectively with faculty and the College
   community, the general public and the students served
 * Ability to work with diverse populations.
 * Strong computer skills and familiarity with adaptive technology and
   software.
 * Experience working with students with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
