Accessibility is a key part of Microsoft's mission to empower people and

that vision a reality for people with disabilities. As part of this focus, we
are looking for a Program Manager with experience and passion for accessible
technology and inclusion to join the team to manage our Accessibility Events
Program. Within the Office of the Chief Accessibility Officer (CAO), this role
will lead our efforts to provide strategy and execution to partnerships and
events that impact people with disabilities, including vision, hearing,
mobility, cognitive, mental health, and speech.

You will be part of a small team accountable for prioritization and
management of Microsoft's strategic engagement with events that focus on people
with disabilities.
You will play a key role in developing the strategy for Microsoft's presence
at key events, and organizing, tracking, prioritizing, executing, and reporting
on those events. You will be the Accessibility Events voice back into the CAO
Office. The role will require engaging directly with diverse stakeholders
within Microsoft, and externally customers, partners, event coordinators,
venues, vendors, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). You will leverage
data to gain insights to maximize business impact of strategic partnerships,
events ,and to drive ongoing portfolio and program optimization. You will
develop deep insights into changing market dynamics of disability community
events across all disability segments. This role is responsible for
comprehensive partnership and event communications with internal stakeholders
on the health and perception of our accessibility events presence.
Responsibilities
a.. Own the strategy for the Accessibility Events Program.
b.. Manage event planning for large internal events, such as the Ability
Summit, and key external disability and accessibility conferences across the
globe.
c.. Build and foster relationships with disability community engaged with
accessibility events, such as NGO and industry conference organizers, that
align to Microsoft's Accessibility vison and charter.
d.. Drive relationships and tracking across Accessibility Events to provide
an "One Microsoft" view of internal and external events.
e.. Leverage event data to develop Accessibility Events strategy to
maximize impact and program efficiencies.
f.. Develop and oversee the execution of Accessibility Events investment
strategy aligned with the Accessibility core mission and strategy. Maintain
budget accountability within investment strategy, including managing internal
procurement processes.
g.. Monitoring trends within the disability community to inform
Accessibility Events strategy implementation and evolution.
h.. Review and shepherd inquiry requests and proposals for Microsoft's
engagement within external events and speaking engagements on disability and
accessibility content. Provide recommendations for participation to key
internal stakeholders derived from the creation and sustainment of scalable
processes.
i.. Manage Call for Papers processes for key events, including managing
event communications to internal stakeholders, education and awareness
building, and drafting and editing presentation abstracts, and final
submissions.
j.. Serve as a point of contact on Accessibility Events for key internal
and external stakeholders.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have strong organizational and project management
skills, customer-facing skills, the ability to think broadly and propose
tradeoffs in the face of constraints, and the ability to help bring all of
Microsoft's Accessibility Events assets into an integrated agenda. The
candidate will also need to navigate, engage, and influence a broad constituent
base within Microsoft.
Qualifications include:
a.. 8 + years of end to end Event Management or similar Project Management
experience
b.. 3 + years of disability inclusion and accessibility experience or
similar diversity and inclusion experience preferred
c.. A successful candidate is likely to have working knowledge of event
accessibility and accommodations, and a proven track record of disability
inclusion is preferred
Desired skills and attributes:
a.. Project management skills and the ability to work efficiently and meet
deadlines in the face of competing priorities
b.. Excellent writing and communications skills
c.. A proven ability to manage complex operational processes
d.. Competency in using data to deliver insights and action
e.. Strong ability to represent Microsoft with trusted external
relationships
f.. Ability to facilitate an effective virtual community
g.. Track record of excellent teamwork and collaboration in a large
organization across multiple teams
h.. Comfortable with ambiguity and a bias for action in a fast-paced,
matrixed environment
i.. A desire to grow and take on new challenges as they arise
j.. Undergraduate degree in Business, Marketing, and/or Communications a
plus
