I have some really exciting news about moving folders in Thunderbird
that you might want to keep in mind for future reference. It's as
simple as copying/replacing the thunderbird folders in the local and
roaming folders under app data from the old computer to the same areas
in the new computer.

Theoretically, if your email folders are all stored in the cloud, such as Gmail, adding your new account on your new copy of Thunderbird should cause Thunderbird to recreate all of those folders containing the various email messages which you placed within those folders. Obviously, if this is not the case then I can see the importance of wanting to back up and then restore those folders.
This page from Mozilla <https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/moving-thunderbird-data-to-a-new-computer#w_copying-all-your-thunderbird-email-data>provides instructions on how to copy your Thunderbird profile folder to another drive. Once you install and open your new copy of Thunderbird, the page also provides instructions on how to tell Thunderbird to open that profile. I'll admit that this method is a bit intense and I wouldn't attempt this if you only have a short amount of time.
