On the most recent FSCast Freedom Scientific just announced some new features
coming in the March update for JAWS 2019.
1. PictureSmart is a new feature which will allow you to recognize any photo on
your PC using cloud-based AI. The demos I have heard sound fantastic. It
will attempt to recognize text in the photo, the location if it can be
recognized, how many people are in the photo, etc.
2. Starting with Google Chrome 74 you will be able to copy portions of a Web
page and paste them with the formatting being preserved, rather than pasting
the text from the virtual cursor. In other words, you will be able to paste
text as actual links and headings. This capability has existed with Internet
Explorer for years but it never worked with Chrome until this update.
3. In January they added an Add/Remove Voices feature which allows you to add
or remove Nuance voices for any language without the need to go to the FS Web
page and download voices. This capability has been improved and now you won't
even have to restart JAWS in order for the new voices to become available.
This update should be released during the week of the CSUN conference. FS will
be at CSUN and they are asking people to stop by their booth with pictures on a
thumb drive so they can see PictureSmart in action.
