I confess I can be a bit of a news junkie at times and always enjoy a
good news app for my phone. One of the apps I recently discovered is a
free one called Newsbeat. What makes this one a bit unusual is that not
only can you read news articles with VoiceOver but the app can
continuously read the stories to you as well. They are read either by
human narrators or with fairly high-quality speech voices. You can
choose news sources and the type of news you want from a mostly
accessible settings menu. This app could be nice for people engaged in
things like running on a treadmill, where you’d want the phone to read
one story after another without the need for you to pause between
articles. You can always perform a 3-finger swipe left or right to jump
from one article to the next but otherwise Newsbeat will just do a
continuous read from start to finish.
