Yes, I have experience in working with Dementia dynamics in family systems.
Environmental and nutritional/medical factors aside, inside the system dementia is a consequence of a drive in the family conscience to forget a tragedy - which is followed through to the end. This need to forget supports the system in its need to survive/move on/forward.
My observation is that 'ease' for both the inflicted person, and the client/family who is looking at it is the acceptance of the presence of the tragedy, and the withholding of needing or wanting to know / search for what it is. In other words: integrating the forgetting as a gift for the family brings ease.
(and as many of the paradoxical occurances in life: more often than not - also allows the story/tragedy to step into the foreground). Sometimes the tragedy becomes known while the dementia is still present, more often it becomes known after the passing of the family member.
In some ways, it's function is not too unlike that of a secret - the kind of secret that saves a family/tribe.
Since you and I share shamanic knowledge, Jeffrey - assisting those with dementia through spirit work is highly effective.
More than constellation work.
