Here in Australia last week's death of Renee Rivkin made the headlines.
A very well known businessman, one of the "highflyers", he suffered from
bipolar disorder and took his own life.
Just a week ago I didn't know much about the man, however his death did
arouse my interest enough to read quite a bit on him.
It seems the suicide of his younger brother more than 30 years ago
marked the beginning of his slide into depression.
That suicide in turn was somehow linked to a fallout between brother and
father.
The father ended his own life while suffering from cancer.
Apart from having migrated from Russia to Shanghai in the 1920's
nothing was mentioned about the fathers background.
Chances are of course, relatives may have been lost in the Holocaust.
Who knows what had happened in his lineage.
During a recent constellation for someone who's father and f-father were
diagnosed with bipolar disorder I had the
grandfather at one stage face War. (he had participated in WWII and came
back bipolar, which wasn't known to the representative)
His fascination with War was apparent and he said he is confused.
I had him say: sometimes I feel just great
and then I started: and sometimes... and the rep cut in: ...I feel down
the dumps.
Somehow I was made to to 'split' war by taking a second representative
to stand next to War and without specifying
asked them to represent the two aspects.
After looking at both of them the grandfather could turn around and lean
into them, feeling increasingly relaxed.
The father who had watched all of that lying in the lap of his mother
(who had died when he was nine years old)
could in his own time stand up and go to his father and after some time
turn around and lean into him.
It was wonderful to behold the transformation of the father's face to
what looked like a state of bliss.
That constellation was brought back to me while thinking about Rivkin
with the useless question: would a constellation have helped him.
What are your experiences with bipolar disorder in constellations?
G'day
