During the years that I worked in a family practice medical clinic I saw many
patients diagnosed with fibromyalgia, all had a history of trauma and most were
female.All of these patients were very nice people,uncomfortable with any kind
of overt aggression. Over time, a pattern emerged of thwarted aggression which
was unable to mobilize or express for a number of reasons, and something like a
lactic acid build up occurred in the muscles, mobilized for action but then
blocked...and this was very painful and also exhausting.
At the time, the treatment strategy was to build resources, gently mobilize the
underlying aggression, normalize feelings of negativity and find healthy
expression for the spectrum of "red energies", such as eros, creativity,sports
and laughter.
