Dear Vera
My view (regarding constellation) for mothers who want to get their
children "fixed", is that the mother ( preferably both parents if
feasable) could be introduced to the idea of things being stored in the
family soul(s) and invited, if ready, to do a constellation on each of
their families. I was talking to another therapist today who uses two
sandtrays simultaneously for this. I work with one while one watches and
vice versa. Either way they can then experience how what comes out may
be impacting on the present situation.
Hellinger's principle "Parents give and Children receive" suggests to me
that the work needs to be done by the parents. Of course there would
have to be flexibility according to the age of the "child" as older
teenager.
I have used sandtray with children to get them to place their family
members for a "Who's closes to who?" exploration.
I would be very interested to read comments from other Chatline members.
Cheers
Annie.

Dear Annie,
sand tray sounds great. Will you have a Friday where we can get an
experience of this?
My question to all is, how appropriate is it to have children and a
parent or both parents for a constellation "on the table" with little
figures? I lately seem to get mothers who want the children "to be
fixed". Any comments?
I am reading the discussions with great interest, thanks Chris for
making it happen.
Cheers
Vera
PS: Annie, thanks for asking, I will be happy to translate the
Schneiders again in August 2004.

Dear Chris and others
Hello!
I have followed the discussion re individual work with interest.
I use my sand tray to do constellation work with both individuals and
couples (In couples I ask one (they choose) to do the work and then the
other adds, changes etc.).
My tray is the size of a half drawer on an upright table and I have a
shoe box with a variety of small items. I have found clients can get a
great deal out of this and at times it has worked fantastically.
Clients being able to move items chosen in the sand, build high and low
places, bury members etc seems to have great effect. The symbolism of,
say an owl on top of a building block for the father (and the movement
from there) actually adds to the whole exercise. Clients seem to be able
to identify with each chosen object in turn and to move the objects as
the constellation develops.
The only part that is somewhat difficult is the bowing. To bow over a
sand tray on a table does not require much bending. Yet to get up and
bow to the floor and away from the tray, changes the energy .As I write
I think that next time I might invite the person to take the
representative item and place it on the small low table in the centre of
my room and then bow to that. Afterwards to return the piece to the
constellation.
Groups are great but this seems to be potentially a very viable
alternative.
Of course I always try to go by my intuition as to when it is
appropriate to use it.
Best wishes
Annie
