Dear friends
I prefer not to read announcements of up-coming groups on the constellation-talk-forum.

Libby Shapiro wrote privately sent me the following enquiry:

Dear Chris,

I am hosting Daan van Kampenhout and Dr. Ursula Franke in New York City in 2005. Daan is doing a two-day workshop of shamanic constellations and Ursula a three-day seminar, one day of individual constellation work and two-days on completing the Interrupted Reaching Out Movement. Is it OK to post this to the group, as these are internationally respected teachers, or not?

I realise by sending this to the group I have publicised these events by default. I appreciate that Libby wrote to me privately rather than trying to run an advertising campaign through the group. Nonetheless I thought I would ask the group what you want.

I find it tricky. So here are some of my thoughts:

1. It is useful for people to find out about special events

2. This is a global group and such events won't be relevant to members of the group who live in another part of the globe.

3. Maybe facilitators should be encouraged to develop their own independent mailing lists

4. If organisers were only able to promote their event once, and in a respectfully humble way, it may be okay.

5. As far as I am concerned any ongoing advertising campaign would be intolerable. Also attempts to organise events though the group cause significant problems.

6. Clever contributors are capable of alluding to an upcoming event in the context of a post about a related matter. I know I have done just that in regard to Bertold Ulsamer's approaches to the work in the past. I don't see this being a great problem if the contributor is making their plug in the context of a genuinely interesting post.

These are my thoughts. I REALLY REALLY would like to hear other people's opinions including those that differ with my own. I promise that I am quite good at coping with healthy debate and differing views. In this way we could develop a policy that has a general support.

 hasta la vista
