"Professionals belong to the mental field of other professionals of their type.
This field they belong to is held together by conscience. To belong, they
maintain the beliefs of others in that field. They remain in their field with
what they think and what they do and this gives them security. The movement
that binds them to this mental field is a movement of conscience. They know
what to do and to think in order to belong to this mental field, which serves
as an extended family. Thats why they resist all attempts that will endanger
that mental field. For instance, new insights; such a field resists new
insights because they feel threatened if they accept them even if they say
something about them they risk exclusion from this mental field. Thats why we
cannot hope to change the mental field. We cannot hope to change the medical
field for instance, or the psychoanalytic field. They do change, very slowly,
but not if we want to change them. As
soon as they sense that we want to interfere in their field they reject us
immediately and not because they are bad. They save themselves and their
security. Thats why these new insights cannot be spread with a certain zeal
and eagerness we want to convert the world. These mental fields, too, and
the people in these fields, are also moved by the Spirit-Mind in a certain way.
So if we want to change them we are right away in the field of conscience
ourselves. We have to trust that the movement of that Spirit-Mind in its own
time
is in no hurry. It doesnt have to achieve something special as if it
achieves a certain satisfaction with changes. No. Everything has its own place
in the general universal movement of mankind. And my image is this movement is
towards a wider consciousness, beyond the limits of conscience, and in order to
achieve this, the mistakes and failures are necessary. Only if we have reached
our limits can we reconsider
what we did so far, and take the next step, moved by the Spirit-Mind.
Therefore, Im not very eager to change the world. There are other forces that
do that. But I go with that movement as far as Im guided and allowed, and I
share it with you. You test it in your own souls and you allow yourself to be
moved in this direction."
