Dear Fung
Children can benefit greatly from art and play therapy. It does not
need to be a formal session. Art making, if it is not didactic, and
effecive "listening" is used in the art process and for the resulting
images (reflecting what's in the images) can be very helpful. It's
very simple as one can work with large groups of kids at one time, and
it does not look like "therapy", so no one gets antsy.
Please see this 10 minute instructional video on Disaster & Trauma
work, based on the tsunami in Sri Lanka.

This is good for adults too, but culturally people seem to be more
comfortable watching kids do art.

Dear Fung
Two very powerful techniques for treating Trauma are - EMDR (Eye
Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) and SE (Somatic Experiencing)
If you search both names in Google you will find a few websites for
each.
If you need I can collect some info and send to you a few
reccomendations from both methods regarding first aid in case of
recent trauma.
My heart is with you
