Dear David, Sneh, Anngwyn, Ellen, Galina and others,
Thank you for your generous sharing regarding this theme. When I wrote my
note I was filled with a kind of post workshop glow, and I was still
mulling over what had happened. I have since heard from others who also
experienced the intensive with Ed, and they have also added their voices to
underscore the importance of the group process piece.
I even heard from a couple of folks asking if Ed would consider this as a
topic to be presented in the upcoming US conference???
Though many facilitators around the world are skillful at attending to the
group process, I agree with Sneh that it could be a development opportunity
to expand our focus in this direction in training programs and other
teaching venues (e.g. internet forums, conferences, journal articles, books,
etc.)
After being at Fenway Park for a Red Sox game this weekend and feeling the
intensity of the group energy, I began pondering what moves a group, or
tribe, and what needs groups have that might be similar (and different) from
families, and how what governs belonging to groups is similar and also
different, and how our planet seems to need a close examination of these
dynamics as our technology expands our ability to reach toward (and against)
one-another.
I hope to continue these musings with you all over time.
All the best,
Don
