I think you raise an important question.
It seems like your story had a good outcome, but in answer to your
question re negative energies, I have adopted some practices that seem
to help the workshop and myself. Without going into issues of
permission and setting up the room/space. But I guess what works for
each of us can be quite different, its a question of finding what works.
I use quite expensive incense, it comes from Taiwan. I find it very
useful for clearly energies and before, during and after the workshop,
and I use it for myself at home too. Also I think with incense the use
of it has its own practice as it depends on my attitude when I use it.
I also have done work about improving my energy, some simple practices
that have helped me be more grounded and stand in more balanced way.
This includes how I sit in a workshop, paying more attention to my
base Chakra. I also do practices to bring more energy into my body and
distil any energy I pick up. This includes attending to my circulation
and trying to clear any blockages. Rather like a Constellation on the
body! Which I have done as well.
What I notice out of all of this is that after a workshop, maybe a
longer one. I am much less tired and my body is stronger, and has more
energy.
I have learnt all these practices in China, but they are available to
learn in many places.

Really interested in your comments Dan, I studied Feng Shui and when I
came to constellation work it seemed like the most natural progression
from the work I had been doing with dowsing, siting spaces for
ancestors etc.,
The thing for me, is that constellations do not just deal with the
dead, we also get messages from the living .... and from ourselves..
"thank you for letting me see myself" a participant told his
representative at an event I was at last week. How does that happen? -
And how do we represent parts of ourselves or those still living that
we don't yet recognise? That can't be spiritualism, it has to be
something different - family soul as Hellinger puts it. For me, I
fascinated by the process and the ripples in the pond it creates.
Though I do have another question.... in Feng Shui and chinese
culture, people spend a lot of time making sure the ancestors do not
get angry, we also ensure we do not stir up negative portents.
Similarly when I dowse, I have to protect myself against entities that
can feed on negative "energies". Spiritualists also talk about how
people who are awakening need to protect themselves from negative
spirits....So I do worry, how can we be sure that the group can
protect itself from this stuff. I have witnessed representations of
great darkness who cannot own any of it - how can the representative
be sure to clear themselves of this before entering the real world
again? Presumably we do not want to take any of the negative stuff
back out of the circle.
I did a constellation last July, where I represented something quite
dark and unpleasant, it took me a while to shake it out of myself that
day. Often after doing the work I feel in something of a dream state
for a few days after. The following day, I had to go to work, where I
had a shockingly unpleasant day, culminating in my leaving my
job.....I really did need to leave the job, it was serving me
financially, but not in any other way, however I had not intended to
leave quite so suddenly and dramatically. I do wonder whether the
dramatic turn of events was down to some connection with the energy of
the constellation in which I represented. - Not a lot was resolved in
that constellation, it felt like the first step in discovery for the
person who brought the issue.
