I think this is a very important question you raise. I often remember
Hunter Beaumont's talk at the first U.S Conference in Portland where he urged
us
all to be careful with the practice of this powerful and uncertain modality.
He used the metaphor of the Sorcerer's Apprentice as depicted by Mickey Mouse
in Walt Disney's Fantasia to remind us all about how mindful we must be when
using this method. He presented an example of working with a woman who had
very difficult symptoms (I can not recall exactly but they had to do with
life and death issues... I think murderous rage. I could check back in my
notes
if it is important to you.) When the constellation ended the woman had
found relief from her symptoms. However, Hunter said that he received a
communication from this woman some time later saying that her granddaughter
now was
manifesting the symptom and that the granddaughter was much less able to deal
with the symptom that she had been and she wanted it back.
Your post helps me be mindful again, and I will continue to look for
examples in my work.
